Contributing to the revival of Knoxville's Jazz Festival, the first in over ten years, Carl & Alan Maguire played their souls out to a packed audience at Scruffy City Hall. Being the youngest of the line-up for the night, the duo opted to perform for the first time as a sextet with fellow UT prodigies Luther Allison (piano), Joey Santoro (guitar), Kelvin Walters (alto sax), and Hunter Smith (tenor sax). The Sextet closed for the second and final night of the Jazz Festival, which included famous acts such Benny Golson, Manuel Rocheman, and Keith l. Brown. Renown acts boasted in the past include Lionel Loueke, Jimmy Cobb, Steve Nelson, Warren Wolf and several others. The Carl & Alan Sextet enjoyed being a part of the steadily increasing Knoxville Jazz scene.
